Day 01: Arrive Madurai

Arrive Madurai. On arrival, you will be greeted and assisted by our representative and transferred to the hotel.

On arrival in hotel, check in (Rooms will be available from 1200 hrs)

In the evening, visit the Meenakshi Temple to attend the evening ceremony known as 'Bedtime of the God'. A colorful procession, in which the image of Shiva is carried accompanied by musicians, temple singers and priests from his shrine. Enroute Shiva visits the other deities before entering Parvati's (Meenakshi) temple to sleep with her for the night. This ceremony is worth witnessing.

Day 02: Madurai

Meenakshi Temple –
This temple is nearly 2000 years old placed in the heart of the old town - a splendid example of Dravidian architecture. The present temple was designed in 1560 by Vishwanatha Nayak and subsequently built during the reign of Tirumalai Nayak. There are four entrances to the temple with an area of six hectares. Each of its 12 towers has the height of 45 to 50 meters.

The Potrama Raikulam or the Golden Lotus Tank is the place where the Tamil literacy society, called Sangam used to meet to decide the merits of the work presented to them.

The temple museum has 985 richly carved pillars and each one surpasses the other in beauty.

IMP: Meenakshi Temple remains closed from 1200 hrs till 1530 hrs.

Tirumalai Nayak Mahal - This Indo-Saracenic building was constructed in 1523 and was originally four times large are today. Sound and light show on the life of the Tirumalai Nayak and the story of the Silapathikaram are conduced daily.

Vaniyur Mariamman Teppakulam – This enormous temple tank is fed by water from the Vaigai river. The tank has a mandapam at the center enshrining Lord Vigneshwara. A colorful float festival is held in this tank every year.

Day 03: Madurai – Rameshwaram 168 Kms/03 Hrs

After breakfast, drive to Rameshwaram, on arrival check in at Hotel

Later proceed for sightseeing of Rameshwaram visiting - Ramanathaswamy Temple which was built by rulers of different dynasties from 12th century and onwards. The temple complex is constructed in an area of 265m x 200m and is famous for its 1200 gigantic granite columns, the 54-meter tall gopuram (gate-tower), 1220 meters of magnificent corridors, the flamboyant columns embellish and render fame to the temple. The water in each of the 22 sacred wells in the temple tastes different. According to the Hindu mythology, the story of Ramayana Lord Rama performed thanks giving rituals to Lord Rama after the battle at Sri Lanka and his triumph over the demon king Ravana. Owing to this Rameshwaram attracts Vaishnavites (worshippers of Lord Vishnu) and Saivites (worshippers of Lord Shiva) alike. In a distance just of 24 kilometers from Rameshwaram is a shore of Sri Lanka. In fact the entire area of Rameshwaram is associated with various incidents from the Ramayana. Rameshwaram belongs to one of the most important religious sites of India.

Day 04: Rameshwaram - Kanyakumari Approx 295 Kms / 08 Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Kanyakumari – which is at the tail point of India, where the three seas meet together. The place is most famous for the spectacular sunset and moonrise.

Check into the hotel on arrival and proceed for sightseeing of visiting - The Vivekananda rock in the island which is reachable by Govt ferry. There is also a recently built memorial to Tiruvalluvar, the author of the philosophical work Tirukkural - a treatise on the Indian way of life. The temple of Kumari Amman (the virgin lady) and Gandhi Memorial are some of the finest attractions.

Day 05: Kanyakumari - Kovlam Approx 100 Kms / 02 ½ Hrs)

After breakfast, After breakfast drive to Trivandrum – sightseeing of Padhamanabha Swami temple, Museum, Horse Palace, Art Gallery.

Later you will be transfer to Trivandrum airport to connect the flight for onward journey.
