Gauri’s Departure in Gangaur Festival
The Festival reaches its end in the last three days when the departure day of Gauri comes closer. The images of Gauri and Lord Shiva are well-dressed in new clothes. Both married and unmarried girls decorate these images and make them look like real human beings. A procession is taken out by married and unmarried girls with the images or idols of Gauri along with pots placed on their heads. They walk through along with the pots in local streets and bazaars to collect cash, sweets, and oil. This procession goes on till the last day. On the final day, traditional songs are sung about the departure of Gauri to her husband’s house. They break their pots and take the pieces of pots to a well or tank. Women give farewell to Gauri and the festival of Gangaur comes to an end.
